The course aims to provide students with underpinning knowledge, values and skills relevant to work in a range of social care settings, and to prepare them for a degree in social work; the course focuses primarily on the development and enhancement of social care skills; students study a range of subjects, including psychological and sociological perspectives, social policy and social services provision, social care theory for practice and the protection of individuals; also included in this award are 3 SVQ Care (3) mandatory units.
