The programme combines academic and clinical training with a structured, independent research project and complies with the UK standards for specialist training in orthodontics set by the Orthodontic Standing Advisory Committee of the Royal Colleges; taught element consists of mandatory clinical training including clinical practice on patients and seminar programme that covers: basic orthodontic subjects; general orthodontic subjects; orthodontic techniques; biological sciences relevant to orthodontics; multidisciplinary treatment procedures; specific treatment procedures; information technology; management of oral health; practice and business of specialist orthodontic practice; workshops also undertaken in research methods and research management.
