Successful completion of this course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests; in addition to teaching modern foreign languages (MFL) students learn how to teach all national curriculum subjects and become an effective primary school teacher; as the course covers the 7-14 age range it helps schools to manage pupils' transition between primary and secondary more effectively; the course is designed to give students with skills in MFL (normally forming a significant part of their 1st degree) the ability to teach across the 7-14 age range and, in the longer term, progress your career by giving them the subject knowledge to become a MFL subject co-ordinator in school; at secondary level students concentrate on teaching MFL to a range of ability groups; students examine the importance of language skills to pupils and address why some children have difficulty learning languages and barriers to language learning; they understand how language develops throughout all age phases and develop strategies to accommodate the variety of learning styles they may encounter in school; students spend 3 blocks of time in schools: 1 in a primary or middle school; 1 in a secondary or middle school; and 1 in a sector of their choice.
