Years 1-2: Taught at Camden Town campus; topics include: scientific philosophy and methodology; anatomy; physiology; biochemistry; cellular and molecular biology; infectious diseases and injuries; autoimmune diseases, oncology and ageing; pharmacology; 5 weeks of animal husbandry extramural studies (EMS) in each year, including 3 weeks' lambing during the Easter vacation. Year 3: Taught at Camden campus; modules include: animal health; integrated structure and function; special species; research projects. Year 4: Clinical stages taught at Hawkshead campus in Hertfordshire; modules include: foundation microbiology; foundation parasitology; principles of clinical sciences; body systems modules; alimentary system 1; central nervous systems and special senses; cardiovascular system; locomotor system; respiratory system; clinical EMS: 13 weeks at a variety of veterinary practices to be completed by the following September. Year 5: Taught topics include: alimentary system 2; endocrine system; lymphoreticular system; skin system; urogenital system; professional studies; species medicine; next 12 months is continuous period of intramural and extramural clinical rotations; intramural clinical rotations (IMR) take place in the following areas: Queen Mother Hospital for Animals; Farm Animal and Equine Medicine and Surgery; Pathology; Beaumont Animals’ Hospital. Year 6: Continuation of clinical rotations from Year 5; between February and May students choose species- or subject-based elective (includes practical project) from: equine studies; farm animal studies; small animal medicine and surgery studies; wildlife and zoo animal studies; clinical pathology; clinical pharmacology; comparative anaesthesiology; orthopaedic science; reproduction.
