This course combines the study of technologies, design, and the ways in which we choose and use them; the 1st 2 semesters concentrate on developing understanding of how individuals make choices, how society influences and is shaped by those choices; students also develop their understanding of contemporary technologies for networked presentation and communication and the technical skills they will need to participate fully in online communities; in the final 2 semesters, student specialise in the study of design and technology, including the environmental applications of technology; areas covered include choice and technology, the ethics of technology choices, and the principles of design choice; finally, students apply their knowledge and skills to the challenge of preserving our environment, learning about environmental issues and applying their decision-making and analysis skills, along with a range of specialist techniques, to the challenges they present.
