This course has strong practical elements with an emphasis on production of quality software systems; students are given a foundation in the breadth of computer studies which gives them a platform for specialist study in the 2nd and 3rd years where they learn the principles and practices of software engineering; areas of study include: database developments; software engineering management; system methodologies; information technology project management; dynamic data access; usability engineering; e-commerce tools and techniques; dissertation/project and research: the final year project enables students to take their specialist work to greater depth, leading to the possibility of future research in the area.
