This course provides a challenging mix of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional opportunities; computer-aided design and crafted media are combined to develop creative ideas and solutions; using case studies about contemporary international designers, students gain insight and understanding of approaches to design; using drawing, 3-dimensional computer and architectural modelling, students develop spatial design skills; there is also the opportunity to explore how traditional materials are used in new ways, to extend knowledge of the availability and properties of non-traditional materials such as glass, ceramic, metals, perspex and textiles; it is anticipated that as the course progresses students begin to identify work areas and design philosophies that are of particular interest to them in readiness for the final year of study; at the end of the course students have a professional portfolio of work, which they exhibit in a degree show in readiness to enter the professional marketplace; application deadline: March 2010.

Расположение

Город Престон является культурной столицей графства Ланкашир и связан с остальными частями страны отличной системой автодорожного, железнодорожного и авиасообщения. Университет расположен в 10 минутах ходьбы от главной железнодорожной станции. Дорога на поезде от Престона до Манчестера занимает 45 минут, до Лондона – 2 часа 15 минут, а до Ливерпуля – 1 час. До аэропортов Манчестера, Ливерпуля и Блэкпула также легко добраться.
