The study of Marketing has origins in the process of exchange, in which value is given and received in a market setting; it is concerned with trying to understand how customers and consumers behave, how markets function and evolve, how firms relate to these markets, as well as identifying the contributions of marketing to organisational performance and societal welfare; students take specialised modules in key areas such as market research, consumer behaviour, strategic aspects of marketing, segmentation, positioning, buying behaviour by organisations, and e-commerce; students study the same core management modules as all students on business studies degrees, in organisational behaviour, human resource management, entrepreneurship, international business, and corporate social responsibility; students also study modules in accounting, finance and economics designed for non-specialists; specialist marketing modules include services marketing, consumer behaviour, market research, integrated marketing communications, international marketing, marketing strategy and critical issues in marketing.
