Radboud University is noted for its green campus, often listed among the most attractive in the Netherlands. The university offers a wide range of on-campus facilities. All the university’s facilities are concentrated together on the one km2 of the former Heyendael estate: the lecture rooms and research labs, the University Hospital, the libraries, offices, the accommodation for student organizations, the sports centre, the guesthouse and a bookshop. All facilities are on campus. International students are entitled to make use of the same facilities on campus as Dutch students and staff.
The university itself does not offer undergraduate students help with finding accommodation. However, the Foundation for Student Accommodation Nijmegen provides around 4,000 accommodation places to undergraduate students. Certain exchange students and all international students on an English-taught Master's programme are guaranteed housing. A furnished room with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities costs approximately €400 per month.
RU students can look forward to a bright professional future. Official figures show that 87% of them find employment immediately after graduation. Due to the comprehensive nature of Radboud Arts degree programmes, students are flexible and employable in a wide range of professions. Many of students work as teachers, public relations officers or communications advisors. Others work as project leaders or in other positions at schools, universities, government institutions or businesses. The university’s programmes enable students to start preparing for their professional careers at an early stage. This is done, for instance, through internships, business projects, and personal career counselling.
All the university buildings and facilities, and the university hospital are located on the former Heyendael estate in Nijmegen, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. Nijmegen lies close to the border with Germany, on the banks of the River Waal. It is about 1.5 hours by train from Amerstdam Schiphol airport, and around 45 minutes by bus from Airport Weeze in Germany. Nijmegen is a lively college town with some great neighborhoods. There are grocery stores, bakeries and drug stores in most neighborhoods, so you are never far from the basics. The city is easily accessible by train and car. Cycling is the best way to get around Nijmegen. There is a bus service, but no tram or metro.
