Jönköping University (JU) is a young professional-oriented university characterized by a high degree of internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit and extensive collaboration with surrounding society. It is one of three Swedish private, non-profit institutions of higher education with the right to award doctorates.
Jönköping University has around 12,000 students, of which 2,000 are international students. The university is one of the top universities in international student exchange and among the best in Sweden in terms of attracting international students. Campus has a truly international and academic environment with students and staff from all parts of the world.
Within both education and research, Jönköping University has a close cooperation with business and society. JU operates on the basis of an agreement with the Swedish Government and conforms to national degree regulations and quality requirements.
The university is organized as a non-profit corporate group with Jönköping University Foundation as the parent organization and six wholly owned subsidiaries:
• the School of Health and Welfare,

• Jönköping International Business School,

• Jönköping University Enterprise.
The University offers 60 programs and specializations on Bachelor’s and Master’s level and prepares students for working in an international context.
Focus areas within research are entrepreneurship and renewal; technical expertise and know-how to small, medium-sized and large companies; health, care and social work from a holistic perspective; and conditions for education and communication.
Jönköping University also conducts commissioned eduaction and research and also offers preparatory programs called Pathway programs, designed for international students.
Outside of the classroom, JU is known for having one of the best orientation weeks for new students in the country and guarantee accommodation for international students.
Many programs utilize local business experts as guest lecturers in the classroom or offer company visits. In some programs, students interact with local businesses like IKEA as a part of coursework. A close collaboration with the nearby Science Park incubator creates an environment for innovative students to try out and commercialize their ideas.
