The programme consists of 2 units: a general introduction to all forms of work based learning; and developing the skills and confidence required to take a lead role in supporting and assessing social work students in practice placements; learning and teaching methods include: interactive workshops together with self-managed and experiential learning; students self managed learning is supported by both web-based and more traditional learning materials provided by the university; reflective experiential learning is a key part of this programme; students need to ensure that they have opportunities to enable the learning of others in their workplace whilst undertaking unit 1; students must take lead responsibility for a social work student in a practice placement whilst undertaking unit 2; unit 2 includes assessments of practice competence by a suitably qualified work based practice assessor.
