This course encourages creativity and innovation in a friendly working environment; each student has a workstation in a studio near to its workshop facilities; students are treated as individuals and are encouraged to develop existing strengths; explore new options and discover personal potential; the first year of the course begins with an intensive programme of workshops, to provide an introductory and experimental basis for students to explore visual language; media and techniques; workshops include drawing; design; print; stitch; weave; knit; felt; tufting and digital techniques; these workshops are project-based and offer students the opportunity to develop and creatively apply skills and knowledge whilst developing a personal design process; the second year requires students to develop work within a series of live projects and competitions; this provides the opportunity to experience a range of specialisms in a variety of situations; to develop technical and professional skills and allows a diagnostic period in preparation for the final year; the third year provides a holistic experience and comprises of a personal negotiated project; developing entrepreneurial skills and theoretical knowledge of chosen subject area.
