This degree satisfies those who love intellectual challenge as well as those who want to gain invaluable practical experience; education studies explores the historical, sociological, political and philosophical development of education, giving the student the opportunity to examine the history of our education system while gaining in-depth knowledge of the modern educational environment; early years is an ever changing environment and on this part of the course the student studies child development, legislation, and health and welfare; the student has the opportunity to engage in educational research and 2 work placements, so they can complement their academic skills by applying theory in practical contexts; this course is an ideal preparation for work in a variety of fields related to education, including learning support, education administration or community care, and can also lead to teacher training or other postgraduate study.
