Ливерпульский институт исполнительских видов искусства, BA (Hons), Theatre and Performance Technology

Year 1: The first year introduces the range of skills required by successful stage technicians, such as lighting, stage management, live sound, technical drawing and scenic construction; contextual studies examines the theory and history behind theatre production and practice today, and professional development builds study and group-working skills; students work on public performances in a variety of practical roles and also study alongside theatre and performance design students to benefit from instruction in design principles, as well as technological competency; there is the chance in the first and second year to take an elective module in a complementary discipline, such as video, puppetry, directing or multimedia technology. Year 2: Students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in two preferred areas or explore new practical expertise; specialist modules such as stage technology, lighting design & technology, live art practice, production management, video in live performance, and sound specialism cover current practice in such areas; a health and safety management module covers current legislation for the entertainments economy (and how it will affect you) and CAD and computer visualisation looks at electronic design and specification; students also work in a more senior role as part of a creative team on a practical production project and spend time on a placement with a professional organisation. Year 3: The final year consolidates students experience with two head of department roles on public performances; students also learn career development and professional practice; there is a module looking at the context of film and video analysis and a research paper to investigate specific technology or pursue a wider academic course of enquiry; events and entertainments management examines the production skills of larger scale projects, festivals and corporate presentations; students can take up external and professional work for final assessment to build up contacts for the future, or initiate their own productions and creative projects.
