Year 1 (studied at Runshaw College): Students are introduced to topics in social psychology, developmental psychology, psychobiology and cognition, as well as learning statistical and methodological knowledge/skills, writing and critical analysis skills; modules include: introduction to psychological enquiry; social and developmental psychology; developmental psychology; psychobiology and cognition; cognitive psychology; psychology in practice; plus 1 elective modules: current topics in psychology. Year 2 (studied at the University of Central Lancashire): Students develop research skills and statistical analysis through small group practical work and report writing; students study 1 specialist subject from a choice of the following, which allows progression to a specialist degree in year 3: applied psychology; forensic psychology; neuro-psychology; sport psychology. Year 3 (studied at the University of Central Lancashire): Personal relationships; sex and gender; juvenile delinquency; psychology of reading; biological testaments in psychiatry; students also look at the development of presentation skills and will include a final year psychology project; students selecting appropriate specialist topics in year 3 are able to graduate with a degree in applied psychology; forensic psychology; neuropsychology; or sport psychology.
