Year 1: Key social science concepts are introduced in 6 modules; an understanding of social structures, social processes, social change, social policy and anti-discriminatory practice are developed; modules include: our social selves; exploring the social landscape; childhood in context; applied psychology; social policy and practice; anti-discriminatory practice. Year 2: The relationship between theory, policy and practice is developed; students can choose from 6 modules: Practice placement module; language, communication and interaction; education and society; explaining social life; community policy and practice; global and local contexts; youth policy and practice; inter-professional working; researching social life (compulsory). Year 3: Students choose 4 modules from 12 options, enabling students to specialise; students also undertake a supervised dissertation, equating to 2 taught modules.
