This degree identifies creative writing as an expressive art that can be improved by the development of critical skills, including the ability to make an informed appraisal of one's own work and the work of others, and the ability to place creative work within theoretical and cultural contexts; the ethos of the programme advances written communication skills and acknowledges the tradition of critical evaluation and critical reflexivity as an essential element of creative writing at undergraduate level.
