Pilsen is a scenic city famous for its Pilsner Urquell Brewery which has been in place since 1842. You can visit the brewing cellars as well as the city’s other attractions such as the nineteenth century Great Synagogue which regularly hosts concerts  and the sixteenth century St Bartholomew Cathedral.

The University campus is currently under dynamic changes fastly growing with an annex to the University Library building, new buildings of the European Centre of Excellence NTIS and the Centre of Technical and Natural Science Education and Research. These investments are the largest in the University of West Bohemia’s history and would create a good basis for intensive cooperation with universities all over the world in research, development and students’ mobility.

The Student Union, SUS, is an organization which provides various services for students and organizes sporting, cultural and other events

In collaboration with the city of Pilsen officials the university annually organises the Pilsen Days of Science and Engineering.

There are 7 dormitories available for students, 6 in Pilsen, 1 in Cheb, with more than 3,000 beds. Students may choose single, two-bed, three-bed or four-bed rooms. Toilets and showers are common to all and they are situated across the hall. Some rooms are equipped with private toilet and bathroom. The accommodation cost ranges from 1,900 to 2,590 CZK per month. Internet connection is available in the dormitories. Students are further provided with a kitchen equipped with cooker and fridge and laundry facilities. Some buildings are easily accessible. A cycle depository is available in some dormitories. Adjacent sports areas and student clubs are available for students during their leisure time.

Monthly expenses during studies at Czech universities are approximately 6,000 CZK. This sum includes:

• Accommodation: 3,000 CZK per month;
• Board: 2,500 CZK per month;
• Public transport, 1 month subscription fare: 300 CZK;
• Other expenses as study materials, cultural events, etc.: 1,500 CZK.

Travel expenses to/from the Czech Republic and other expenditures such as garments are not included.

The university organizes different career and recruitment events like career fairs and internships in the best Czech and international companies like Skoda Holding to help students developing their skills.
