Clarkson has two campuses in Potsdam—the "downtown" campus and the "hill" campus—as well as the Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, N.Y, and the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries in Beacon, N.Y.
During the last 35 year, Clarkson has developed the Potsdam hill campus significantly. The health science departments of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies are located on the downtown campus. The campus bookstore is located in downtown Potsdam.
The only buildings remaining in Clarkson's service at the downtown campus are a few administration buildings, the Army ROTC house, the Clarkson Hall Center for Health Sciences (physical therapy and physician assistant studies, and the Peyton Hall Business Incubator. Other downtown campus buildings contain leased space to businesses.
Outside the classroom, Clarkson students can explore the more than 130 campus clubs and organizations, which include more than 10 fraternities and sororities. There is a large majority of student in Greek life as well, and plenty of on-campus jobs that will allow students to make money while attending school.
Besides, Clarkson is 40 minutes from the nearest city center or mall so the campus hosts events from comedians to bands that come on weekends for entertainment. The Village of Potsdam is a classic college town, located on the banks of the beautiful Raquette River. Its tree-lined streets and historic red sandstone buildings give a friendly feel to an array of modern stores and restaurants. Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam are within walking distance of one another. Moreover, downtown shops and eateries are within walking distance, too.
Clarkson is more than just a place to go to school. Apart from the excellent formal classroom education, students make new friends and embark upon a new lifestyle spending a considerable amount of time getting involved in various activities. Clarkson University housing accommodates students with community building programs and well-equipped facilities.
Dining halls are located in or near the residence halls. A variety of meal plans is available to Clarkson students, most of which offer the opportunity to use cash equivalency on-campus and at the various on-campus snack bars.
