While academics rule the day, the experiences outside of class is a major part to life at the U. Around campus, extracurricular activities abound with hundreds of clubs and student groups, ranging from the serious and studious (like, the Park Debate Society) to the adrenaline-filled and heart-pumping (see Freeskier Society), with nearly everything in between. Whether it's lectures, concerts, museums, gardens, or Broadway-quality theatre, campus is chock full of exciting things to do nearly every day of the year. Attractions include the Natural History Museum of Utah, Kingsbury Hall, Pioneer Theatre, Red Butte Garden, and theUtah Museum of Fine Arts.
Whether it's the annual fall or spring campus concerts (Redfest and Grand Kerfuffle, respectively), one of the many Crimson Nights held at the Union throughout the year, powder days in the Wasatch Mountains, weekend road trips to Utah's red rock wonderlands, or screaming silly in The MUSS, once classes let out, our students are just getting started!
Housing & Residential Education provides housing to approximately 2,700 undergraduate students in suite and apartment style units available to first-year through senior students. Students have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of room types, all with private or semi-private bathrooms, convenient study and lounge spaces nearby, delicious dining options, and other great amenities.
University Student Apartments (USA) offers one, two, and three bedroom apartments for students and their families. Utilities, cable television, basic telephone service, and high speed Internet are included. USA is committed to making the residential experience an important part of the total university experience. The family housing program is one of the largest in the country and accommodates students from all over the world. Our apartment community fosters individual lifestyles and educational opportunities within a framework of responsible freedom. Residents enjoy children's programs, cultural activities, and individual participation in community affairs.
Off-Campus Housing is a website listing units available to rent in the nearby housing market. There is no affiliation between the University of Utah and Off-Campus Partners. This website is provided solely as a service to assist the students of the University of Utah.
Career Services is a great resource for transfer students at the University of Utah. They are dedicated to helping students find amazing jobs and internships with community partners. Throughout the year they host job fairs, resume workshops, offer career coaching, and more.
The center offers career coaching for practically any field of study at the University of Utah. Career Services also regularly offers workshops covering topics like resumes, networking, cover letters and how to search for internships.
Career Services also produced a series of webshop videos covering topics like how to prefect your resume, digital interviewing and job search strategies.
Career Services is on the third floor of the Student Services Building.
Salt Lake City, Utah, sits in a mountain bowl 4,300 feet up, with immediate access to all forms of adventure: four world-class ski resorts 45 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport (with 10 more outside city limits); a lineup of slanty canyons to the east with a hundred options for hiking, biking, climbing and camping; a Great Salty Lake to the west for boating and floating; and there’s golf, too, for you golfers.
And there are plenty of indoor things to do in Salt Lake City, too: concert venues for crowds of 20 to 20,000; restaurants repping all corners of the globe and a bourgeoning foodie scene at small-market prices; blockbuster theaters and art house indies; ballet, opera, orchestra and theatre worthy of much less convenient metropolises; museums; malls; and pro basketball, soccer, baseball and hockey.
The Salt Lake and Utah Valleys have a wide range of public transportation options for patients and their families both local or from further away. Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Buses and Trax (Train) and University of Utah Campus Shuttle are the major services available.
