Year 1: Introduction to nanotechnology; generic methodologies; molecular machines and motors; introduction to chemistry; electrical engineering; materials; biophysics; physics and mathematics; foundation course (if a key A-level is missing) or an elective of your choice; practical work including clean room and high-resolution lithography experience. Year 2: Molecular electronics; nanoparticle manufacture; quantum computers and scanning probe microscopy; more advanced topics in physics; materials and biochemistry; enterprise (management, formation of new industries); further mathematics; practical work including scanning probe microscopy; electron microscopy and device design. Year 3: Silicon technologies; microelectronics; biomedical nanotechnology; lab-on-a-chip, high-density storage and nanofluids; optoelectronics; self-organising molecular materials; crystal engineering; thin films; quantum transport and nanostructures; nanotechnology based industries (case studies); practical project.
