Northampton, University of, BSc (Hons), Акушерство
Stage 1: Stage 1 introduces students to the midwifery profession, whilst developing learning and communication skills; research awareness is introduced and this remains an important area of study throughout the course; the concepts of health promotion, sexuality and reproduction are explored, studying the biological, social and psychological elements involved; principles of health are then applied to the woman and her family during pregnancy and childbirth; experience is gained in midwifery areas working alongside a midwife and beginning to participate in midwifery care; students will also gain experience in gynaecology. Stage 2: Stage 2 builds on knowledge gained of health, pregnancy and childbirth, whilst exploring diminished health of a woman or her baby and the role of the midwife in promoting positive health; experience is gained in maternal and neonatal high dependency areas as well as in midwifery placements. Stage 3: During the final stage, research (which will include a dissertation), professional issues and the teaching and management roles of the midwife are given a high profile to prepare students to undertake the full role and responsibilities of the midwife; by the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate evidence that they have attained the required level of skills and knowledge for registration with the nursing and midwifery council (NMC).
