The campus of Tsinghua University is situated on the former imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty and surrounded by a number of historical sites in north-west Beijing. As one of China’s most renowned universities, Tsinghua is an important school for fostering talent and scientific research.
Tsinghua campuses cover an area of 392 hectares, which accommodate all of the full time students. The University provides facilities of sports centers, bookstores, banks, restaurants, post offices, and hospitals on campus, which ensure campus life convenient and pleasant.
Tsinghua University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sport facilities and/or activities, financial aids and/or scholarships, as well as administrative services.
Students at Tsinghua have around 200 student groups that they can get involved in, such as the Zijing Volunteer Service and the Students' Performing Arts Club. Student associations cover five domains: science and technology, physical training, humanities, arts and public welfare.
International students are encouraged to participate in various extracurricular activities and join the student associations of the University. Student Administration also organizes extracurricular activities for international students, including welcome party for new students, New Year’s party, graduation party, tourist visits to Chinese cultural and historical destinations, sports competitions, etc.
The Zijing International Student Apartments of Tsinghua University provide three types of dormitory rooms to the international students: single room (private bedroom and bathroom); AB room (private bedroom, shared bathroom); double room (two beds in one room, shared bathroom on each floor). Bedclothes, air-conditioner, telephone, color TV, Internet access and furniture are included in each room.
The apartments have a capacity of accommodating around 2000 international students, i.e, about 60% of the total studying at Tsinghua.
The number of rooms is limited, so, if a student does not successfully book a room in the on-campus apartments, they need to arrange off-campus accommodation also in advance.
The Student Career Development Center of Tsinghua University serves to help the students with their career planning and development, provide talent-training courses, collect and publish the information on the job vacancies open to the university graduates, organize recruiting events, and offer career counseling and guidance. All are open to the international students.
In the schools and departments, career counseling is also served, and the information about job opportunities in the related fields of the society are provided.
The campus of Tsinghua University is located in northwest Beijing, in the Haidian district, which was designated for universities and other academic institutes.
It is located on the former site of Qing Dynasty royal gardens and retains Chinese-style landscaping as well as traditional buildings, but many of its buildings are also in the Western-style, reflecting the American influence in its history.
